National World War I Museum & Liberty Memorial
If you've seen a picture of the Kansas City skyline, odds are it was taken at Liberty Memorial. Little do people know, this view is actually taken on top of the National World War I Museum. The museum was built "In honor of those who served in the world war in defense of liberty and our country." You can park on the top of the museum (where the memorial is) and just go for the view, or you can park anywhere and go through the museum. Which ever you decide to do, I will inform you on both!
If you decide to go through the National World War I Museum, you can visit any time Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am - 5 pm. However, if you wish to go in the summer, the hours do vary more, so I would check the website (https://www.theworldwar.org) to check! College student tickets are $12 with a student ID, adults are $14, seniors (65+) are $12, kids (ages 6-8) are $9, and children under 6 years old are free. Inside of the museum there are many different options to view from collections to exhibits. This museum also offers an indoor cafe called Over There Cafe. There are many more activities to do inside, so I would recommend visiting their website to see all of the options!
On the other hand, if you're like me and go to the memorial for the view, you will not regret it. Once you park on the top of the hill, you will need to walk a little bit to where one big pillar is standing high. This is what the memorial looks like...
Below is a picture of where you stand to get the best view of the Kansas City skyline.
Just a warning, you cannot sit or stand on the wall or else security will get on an intercom and yell for you to get off... Having the opportunity to view the KC skyline is absolutely FREE!!
You would not regret going to see this view and/or going through the museum!!
The address for the National World War I Museum & the Liberty Memorial is 2 Memorial Drive, Kansas City, MO 64108. Their phone number is (816)888-8100 if you have any more questions!

ReplyDeleteIts real cool to see someone interested in showing the city those who may nit know a lot about it. The museum pictures are very nice and bring me back to my days of Elementary/Middle School, in Minneapolis, MN, where we use to take trips to places like those. Excited what else you have in store for your blog.
