Breakout KC

I've got the perfect activity to do with a group of friends!  Breakout KC is an escape game where your group cracks codes, solve puzzles, and completes tasks to breakout of the room in time. Many cities have activities similar to Breakout KC, so it may sound familiar.

The goal is simple: you have one hour to escape from one of the 10 live-action escape rooms. A staff member is watching on a surveillance camera and will periodically provide clues. Clues can involve riddles, rhymes, or directions to help you through the rigorous tasks.

A little planning is needed if you decide to try Breakout KC. Reserve your room at https://breakoutkc.com/book/.  You will indicate the number of people are in your party (8 is the max) and the date of your experience.  From personal experience, I have booked rooms about three weeks in advance. Rooms fill up fast so make sure you plan ahead!! You are expected to arrive fifteen minutes before your set time!

I have been to Breakout KC twice with different groups.  Both times I competed in Room 13, pictured below. I absolutely loved this room! The story line consists of you being kidnapped and locked into a room. Again, you have an hour to find and put clues together and get out in an hour. The workers have said it is one of the easiest rooms so I highly suggest it if you are a beginner!

There are two Breakout KC locations at: 114 W. 3rd St. #102, Kansas City, MO 64105 (6 escape rooms) and 11535 Ash St., Leawood, KS 66211 (4 escape rooms). See the side bar on the home page for Google Maps of both locations!

  1. I've never participated in the actual breakout KC, but I have done a similar one here at Washburn. It was really difficult and I got really frustrated when I couldn't figure it out.....so if I did the real one that would be interesting, but I'm sure still a lot of fun!
